Living the life of an artist is like a double edged sword; you are either saturated with ideas, constantly creating or being tortured until you create something. Like a writer, there are times when the ideas are blocked, which can be really frustrating. Fortunately there are endless possibilities to get back into your groove and stay inspired!
Keep up on trends. In your field and in life, stay in the loop of what’s out there. There are different ways to research trends. Some of the favorable sources include Pinterest, Tumblr and Instagram. Understanding trends not involved in your field gives you a different perspective, which could be then used to as another element in your work.
Take care of yourself. Get your 7-8 hours of sleep, drink plenty of water. When your body can function properly your creativity can run freely.
Get out of your space. Go outside, visit a new gallery, socialize. Ideas come from the world so join it! Stretch your wings and travel; meet new people, see new places.
Educate yourself. Research a new technique and experiment with it. In my personal experience my best ideas come from experimenting. The simplest projects can spark some great ideas. I love trying new things, like learning a new lighting setup or developing a different way to edit my images.
There is inspiration everywhere, you just need to get out and find it.
“We either make ourselves miserable or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same.” -Carlos Castenada
Even in this cold weather I manage to keep myself inspired. Here’s some inspiration: Spring is just around the corner!
